FAQ
Does it work offline?
Yes. Spelling, spacing, capitals, Brand Kits and fonts all run on your computer. Only AI Proofread needs internet.
Which versions of After Effects?
After Effects 2019 (16.0) or later, on Mac and Windows. The missing font check needs After Effects 2024 or later.
Can I scan just one comp?
Yes. Choose Whole project, Selected comps, or the active comp and its precomps.
Will it change my text without asking?
No. Nothing changes until you click a fix. If a layer changed since your scan, Typo Finder skips it and asks you to rescan.
How do I get to a flagged layer?
Double-click its row. After Effects opens the comp and moves the playhead to the moment the text appears.
What if it flags a real name?
Click Add to Dictionary once and it won’t be flagged again. For a client’s product names, add them to that client’s Brand Kit.
Can my team share Brand Kits?
Yes. Export a kit as a .json file and send it. Anyone can import it.
Do I need to pay for AI?
No. Copy the prompt into any free AI chat and paste the reply back. An API key is optional and makes it one click.
Does ChatGPT Plus include an API key?
No. API credit is bought separately at platform.openai.com. The free copy and paste route works with any ChatGPT plan.
Where does my client’s text go?
Nowhere, unless you use AI Proofread. Then it goes only to the AI you choose. On Gemini’s free tier, Google may use the text to improve its products.
Does it check other languages?
Not yet. It checks English, and text in other languages will flag a lot of words.
